The Fall of an Empire
Burflogs—known by many as Toadmen—are short, stocky, amphibious humanoids. Most are a shade of green, brown, blue or grey. They have two pairs of eyelids and a large croaking sac. They have a ridge of tiny teeth inside their upper lip and venomous blood.
Burflogs exalt their ancestors and summon them in the form of spirits to help them channel the arcane. Neighboring Brelbrorbs find this disgusting and repulsive and often attack Burflog settlements to cleanse their taint from the waters of the Terbur Wilds. The Cyprans of the Terbur often hunt the Burflogs to gain honor and glory for their clan. The Burflogs are not so easily defeated, though; their venomous blood often heavily wounds or kills an attacker. Burflogs have become intelligent defenders of their homes, setting hole traps and snares to capture or kill any potential interlopers.
A Burflog’s croaking sac produces a deep, grinding bellow that will carry on for quite a ways. They use this as a warning, distress or mating call. They can also communicate by leaving pheromones they produce in their legs on things such as trees or the ground.
